I received the book I ordered. “The Dobsonian Telescope – A Practical Manual for Building Large Aperture Telescopes” by David Kriege and Richard Berry covers the design and building of a 14″ to 40″ aperture telescope. It was published in 1997 and is seen as a bible for those who want to build a large aperture telescope. It is published in black and white but has a large number of drawings and photos to describe all the tasks required. Covering topics such as planning the telescope, making the mirror, working with plywood, bearings and all the bits and pieces that you will need to complete the project.
This will certainly not be the only book that will find its way onto my bookshelf as part of this project but it is a very good start.
